Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica (LIMA)
The Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica showcases 15 meter imagery of the Antarctic continent. Acquired by a partnership through NASA, USGS, BAS, and NSF, it can be downloaded in tiles by visiting the LIMA webpage. The imagery consists of LANDSAT 30 meter true-color bands 3, 2, 1, pansharpened from the 15 meter panchromatic (black and white) band.
RADARSAT-1 (Antarctic Mapping Mission)
Compiled by the Byrd Polar Research Center at Ohio State University and Canadian Space Agency, the RADARSAT imagery "Antarctic Mosaic" was remotely sensed in 1997. It offers 125 meter resolution radar data to show the surface of Antarctica. To download the data, click the image or title. For more information visit the RADARSAT-1 webpage. Derivative products from the RADARSAT missions include the RAMP Digital Elevation Model.
MODIS Rapid Response System - Daily Images of Antarctica
The MODIS Rapid Response System was developed by NASA to produce a true-color and false-color (bands 3, 6, and 7), daily images of Antarctica at varying resolutions (250 m, 1 km, 2 km, 4 km). Notable subsets include the Ross Sea and Palmer Station, as well as a pan-Antarctic mosaic. For more information and downloads, visit the Rapid Response homepage.
MODIS Mosaic of Antarctica (MOA)
The MODIS Mosaic of Antarctica (MOA) was shot in the austral summer of 2003-04 as a cloud free view of the ice across the continent and compiled by the National Snow and Ice Data Center and . LIMA / MODIS / RADARSAT Mosaic of Antarctica
Providing complete coverage of the Antarctic continent, the LIMA / MODIS / RADARSAT Mosaic combines three remotely sensed images into one continuous image. Processing was completed by Paul Morin of the Antarctic Geospatial Information Center at a resolution of 500 meters. Included in the download is a jpeg image for presentation as well as a ZIP file with the native georeferenced imagery, complete with projection information. For more information, contact AGIC.
